'RIVER FROME - Exploring Bristol's second river'

Saturday 5th July 2008

10am to 4pm at the Bristol Folk House, 40a Park Street, Bristol.

We will look at how the Frome has shaped Bristol's history and follow its course, both geographically and historically, through the city. The day will include walks along various lengths of the river's route.

WALKS IN THE FROME VALLEY

Sunday 13th July 2008

Starts at 10am.

A scenic 4-mile walk from Oldbury Court to Huckford Quarry Local Nature Reserve (near Winterbourne) looking at the wildlife and heritage of the River Frome. Dogs on leads are welcome. There are some stiles and the path may be muddy and uneven in places. Meet at the Oldbury Court Estate car park at 10am. Booking is essential if return transport to the start is required (cost £2). This event is organised by the Avon Frome Partnership together with the Bristol Living Rivers Project and South Gloucestershire Council. IMPROVEMENTS IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE


Funding from the South Gloucestershire Environment Body enabled path improvements to continue along the Frome Valley Walkway during 2007 with old stiles being replaced by new gates.
